Educating students about the various risks of infection and how they can protect themselves is an essential component of the KYS program. Everyone who comes in for testing is educated on how HIV is transmitted and what they can do to reduce their risk of infection. (To learn more, visit our counseling session.) We hope that through education and awareness, the stigma associated with HIV-infected persons will also be broken down. There are informational pamphlets on-site, as well as free condoms. KYS representatives also make presentations to various student-groups on campus, and will be organizing and hosting forums on campus to help spark a dialogue on issues surrounding HIV/AIDS in the community.
